A Day in the Life of Jade Lee
February 4, 2014: Today started bright and early at 2 am with my two cats settling on my body for warmth. They had to swipe at each other for the prime spot across my neck. Yes, it’s that cold in Illinois. Eventually, I fell back asleep. I’m used to snoring through fur. Here’s a picture of the kitten.
Then it began again bright and early at 8:30 with my husband reminding me that I’m getting an oil change and tire rotation at 9. It took me a moment to realize he meant my car was getting the work done. I had time to dislodge the cats, throw on clothes, and get a latte before arriving (late) to the dealership. Then I sat and called my bestie Elizabeth Hoyt to talk about a very important matter: the awesome Smencils I’d seen at Barnes and Noble. And you thought we talked deep writing stuff. Well, we were! Because when charting books with colored pencils, it’s important to stimulate all your senses.
Social media took up my wait time. Did I mention that it’s release day for What the Groom Wants?
Big cheers on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/JadeLeeBooks), Twitter (https://twitter.com/JadeLeeAuthor) and Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/177048.Jade_Lee) not to mention a little hyperventilating. Yeah, release day can be scary. Then there’s a couple phone calls to my assistant to finalize my travel schedule next week and contest details. I’m always running some sort of contest. You can check out my most recent at http://jadeleeauthor.com/books/bridal-favors-series/what-the-groom-wants/contests
My car is done – YEAH! Off to meet Elizabeth Hoyt at Panera. (It took us 8 texts and a phone call to figure out where we’d meet). More coffee and a bear claw treat and then we settle in to further discuss the Smencils. Plus, we discuss appropriate colors for the notecards: hero—blue, heroine—pink, villain…not the pretty purple! Possible titles for my next book were thoroughly rejected until we hit on a possibility. What do you think of The Duke’s Cunning Plan? Then I finally open my iPad to start writing except…it’s dead. As in red shirt, he’s dead, Jim, dead. We think it froze in my car overnight. So I start writing this blog the old fashioned way with paper and a pretty green pen (remember, stimulate the senses!)
Four phone calls and a zillion texts follow to handle 1. Newsletter details 2. Special promo mailing 3. Gifts for my Jade’s Jewels street team (sign up here: http://jadeleeauthor.com/jades-jewels) 4. Costumes for the RT Book Lovers Convention (www.rtconvention.com) Look what I bought!
Lunch was discussed, ordered, and eaten. And now…I get to write. I’m still outlining, so paper and green pen are okay.
And when that’s done, I’m going to drive to Chicago in a snowstorm to have coffee with my editor. Oh crap. I forgot to gas up the car.

By: Jade Lee
Publishing Date: 2/4/14
Genre: Historical Romance
An honest love…
Radley Lyncott has been in love with Wendy Drew as long as he can remember. When he went to sea, she was too young to court. Now that he’s returned to take up his Welsh title, he is appalled to find that debt has ruined the Drew family, and—even worse—Wendy is being courted by another man.
Or a dangerous attraction?
Family comes first for seamstress Wendy Drew, who is forced to settle her brother’s debt by working nights at a notorious gambling den. But her double-life hasn’t gone unnoticed—she has captivated none other than Demon Damon, a nefarious rake who understands Wendy’s darkest desires and is hell bent on luring her into his arms.
USA Today bestselling author Jade Lee has been scripting love stories since she first picked up a set of paper dolls. Ball gowns and rakish lords caught her attention early (thank you Georgette Heyer), and her fascination with the Regency began. An author of more than 30 romance novels and winner of dozens of industry awards, she finally gets to play in the best girl-heaven place of all: a Bridal Salon! In her new series, four women find love as they dress the most beautiful brides in England. Lee lives in Champaign, Illinois.
